Botox Pre & Post Instructions
Avoid:
Aspirin, NSAIDS, Fish oil for 7-10 days prior to treatment to decrease the risk of bruising. Regular multi- vitamin and Tylenol® is permitted (If not contraindicated). If you are prone to bruising, avoiding alcoholic beverages for 24 hours prior will help decrease your risk of bruising.
You would not be considered a candidate for Botox® if you have any of the following: Myasthenia Gravis, Allergy to Botulinum Toxin, Pregnant or breastfeeding or trying to get pregnant.
Day of treatment:
You may wash your face or apply makeup immediately following your treatment.
Do not touch or rub injected site for 2-4 hours following treatment. Avoid exercise, excessive sweating, laying flat, or putting your head upside down for 2-4 hours after your treatment.
After treatment:
Slight bruising at the injection site is possible. If poke marks or bruising occur, this is temporary. Be assured that any tiny bumps will go away within a few hours of treatment. For bruising, we recommend DerMend bruise cream several time a day until resolved.
The results of your treatment can take up to 14 days to take full effect. Usually patients notice a change in 4-5 days. Please wait until 14 days have passed before assessing if you are pleased with the results.
Your satisfaction is important to us! If needed, please call our office to schedule a 2 week follow-up assessment appointment, especially if this is your first treatment. This will ensure we are able to see how your facial muscles react to your treatment. If you require additional Botox® to fine-tune your treatment results, there may be an additional charge at the regular rate.
Botox® Cosmetic is a temporary procedure. The results last approximately 3-4 months.
**Special events – Please be sure to schedule Botox® at least 2 weeks prior to a special event to give enough time for optimal results. If this is your first time getting Botox®, we recommend 1 month prior to a special event, to give enough time for any necessary touch ups, if needed.
