VBeam PDL Laser FAQ
What is a pulsed dye laser?
A pulsed dye laser (PDL) is a specialized laser technology that targets specific pigments in the skin. VBeam PDL Laser, used at Arsenault Aesthetics, emits pulses of light to safely treat various skin conditions like redness, rosacea, spider veins, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), warts, acne and acne scars.
What is VBeam PDL used to treat?
The VBeam laser is the gold standard for treating anything that is vascular or red. It is great for treating generalized redness, enlarged vessels (telangiectasias), rosacea, hemangiomas, vascular lakes, poikiloderma, and port wine stains.
How many VBeam treatments are needed?
3-5 treatments, spaced 2-4 weeks apart, are typically needed for resolution of redness, rosacea or blood vessels.
Is VBeam safe?
Yes, VBeam is a safe and effective treatment when performed by our experienced aesthetic providers at Arsenault Aesthetics. The procedure is FDA-approved and has been widely used for various skin conditions with minimal side effects.
How does VBeam work?
VBeam PDL Laser works by emitting targeted bursts of light energy, which get absorbed by the blood vessels or pigmented areas in the skin. The heat generated from this process destroys the targeted tissue, promoting the healing process and improving the skin's appearance.
How long after a VBeam treatment do you see results?
You can expect to see noticeable results within two to four weeks after a VBeam treatment. The exact time frame depends on the individual and the specific skin condition being treated.
How long do VBeam results last?
Since the VBeam PDL laser is shrinking blood vessels, not killing them, over time they can return. The re-dilation and appearance of these vessels can range from months to years, depending on the person.
Are VBeam results immediate?
Some improvement may be visible immediately after a VBeam treatment, but the full results typically develop over several weeks as the body's natural healing process takes place.
Are VBeam results permanent?
VBeam results can be long-lasting, but maintenance treatments may be necessary to sustain optimal results, especially for conditions like rosacea, which tend to be chronic.
What is the recovery time for VBeam?
Typical downtime is 1-2 days of redness and 2 to 7 days of swelling. Occasionally there may also be bruising which can last up to 1 week. The downtime depends on the person and the intensity of the laser treatment.
Does the VBeam Laser hurt?
This laser treatment is very tolerable. Patients report only mild discomfort.
Can I exercise after VBeam?
It's best to avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours after a VBeam treatment. This allows your skin to heal properly and minimizes the risk of any side effects.
Does VBeam help with flushing?
Yes, VBeam is effective in reducing facial flushing by targeting and diminishing the blood vessels responsible for the redness.
Does VBeam stimulate collagen?
Yes, the VBeam PDL Laser is known to stimulate collagen production in the skin, leading to improved skin texture, firmness, and overall appearance.
Does VBeam tighten skin?
While VBeam is not specifically designed for skin tightening, the increase in collagen production after treatment can result in a subtle tightening effect.
Can VBeam PDL be used in hair-bearing areas?
VBeam should not affect hair growth in the area treated. VBeam may temporarily remove hair in the area treated, but there is no long-term hair removal by the VBeam. It can vaporize the hair but not get deep enough to affect the hair follicle.
I’ve had IPL or BBL for redness in the past. Is VBeam the same or different?
VBeam is more effective than the IPL or BBL for redness and arguably safer than IPL or BBL.
Is this treatment good for men and women?
Yes! This treatment benefits both men and women.
How VBeam PDL Laser Works
VBeam PDL Laser is a state-of-the-art technology that uses precise pulses of light energy to target and treat various skin conditions. The laser’s wavelength is specifically designed to be absorbed by the pigmented or vascular lesions in the skin, while leaving the surrounding healthy tissue unharmed. This targeted approach allows for effective treatment of conditions such as rosacea, facial redness, spider veins, and acne scars.
With the expert care of our aesthetic providers at Arsenault Aesthetics in Lakewood Ranch, you can achieve a clearer, more radiant complexion using VBeam PDL Laser technology.
What to Expect
Upon arriving at Arsenault Aesthetics, your provider will discuss your specific skin concerns and goals to determine if VBeam treatment is right for you. A thorough skin evaluation will be conducted, and a customized treatment plan will be developed to address your unique needs.
During the VBeam treatment, your skin care specialist will clean the treatment area and put eye protection on you. Next, you may feel a snapping sensation as the laser pulses are delivered. The procedure is generally well-tolerated, quick, and any discomfort is usually minimal.
After the treatment, you may experience temporary redness, swelling, or bruising, which typically subsides within a few hours to a few days. It’s important to follow your provider’s aftercare instructions, which may include avoiding sun exposure and using sun protection. Most clients can return to their normal activities shortly after treatment, with optimal results developing over the next few weeks.
