What are Fillers?
Facial fillers are a gel-like substance made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar molecule found in your skin. Working alongside collagen, hyaluronic acid keeps the skin plump, hydrated and youthful. Also known as dermal fillers, they help lift, shape and refine features of the face and other areas of the body, minimizing the signs of aging. Fillers enhance the cheeks and midface, soften frown lines and downturned corners of the mouth, treat tear troughs, restore the backs of the hands, add volume to the lips, and contour the jawline.
As we age, our bodies produce less collagen and hyaluronic acid. This causes our skin strength, elasticity and fat volume to decrease, changing the shape and appearance of the face, which leads to sagging skin, folds, lines or wrinkles. Fillers add structure, volume and support to redefine your features bringing back a more youthful appearance.

Fillers FAQ
What are the benefits of fillers?
Dermal fillers help reduce the early signs of aging seen through a loss of facial volume. As a non-surgical procedure, the treatment provides instant results with little downtime. Fillers are customizable, allowing us to treat your specific area of concern, and keep you looking natural.
How long do lip fillers last?
Lip fillers typically last between 6 to 12 months, depending on the type of filler used and the individual's metabolism.
How long do under eye fillers last?
Under eye fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 12 months, depending on the type of filler and the individual's metabolism.
How long do cheek fillers last?
Cheek fillers can last between 12 to 24 months, depending on the type of filler used and the individual's metabolism.
What happens during a filler treatment?
Facial fillers are injected using ultra-fine needles or cannulas (blunt tip needles) into various locations of treatment. The injection may be just below the surface of the skin or deeper into the facial tissue. Prior to the treatment, a topical anesthetic may be applied to numb the area. Fillers also contain a local anesthetic so there is instant numbing during the treatment. You may experience some swelling or minor bruising. Small ice packs are provided after the treatment to help with swelling.
What's the difference between Botox and fillers?
Botox is a neuromodulator that relaxes muscles to smooth wrinkles, while fillers are gel-like substances that add volume and fullness or contour targeted areas, such as the lips, cheeks, jawline and under eyes.

Are facial fillers safe?
Facial fillers are generally safe when administered by experienced and trained aesthetic providers, like our master injectors at Arsenault Aesthetics. Additionally, we use FDA-approved fillers to ensure the highest quality and safety standards.
Do fillers hurt?
Fillers may cause some mild discomfort, but at Arsenault Aesthetics, we offer multiple options for numbing the lips to minimize pain during the procedure. We consider our technique “painless lip filler.” Most patients find the treatment very tolerable.
Do fillers dissolve?
Yes, fillers are temporary and will gradually dissolve over time. The duration depends on the type of filler used and individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle.
Do lip fillers last longer the second time?
It depends. Since filler treatments can stimulate collagen production, the increase in lip volume may be noticeable for longer. The hyaluronic acid filler usually lasts the same length of time year after year.
What kinds of fillers are available at Arsenault Aesthetics?
Which filler is right for me?
Prior to the treatment, you will discuss your goals with one of our experienced injectors. Based on your area of concern, the injector will select the product that best achieves the results you are looking for.
Are dermal fillers good for both men and women?
Yes! Dermal fillers benefit both men and women that are looking to reduce the signs of aging.
Are facial fillers permanent?
No, facial fillers are a temporary treatment. Your body naturally absorbs the hyaluronic acid over time. Facial fillers last 9 months to 2+ years, depending on the filler that is used and the area being treated. Hyaluronic acid based fillers are the ONLY completely dissolvable filler with a medicine called Hylenex, making it the safest among dermal fillers! If needed for any reason, we are able to inject Hylenex to dissolve or remove new or old filler.
What is the downtime after a filler treatment?
Your injector may recommend limiting strenuous activity for the day of treatment depending on the filler and area. For cheek filler treatments, it is best to avoid a massage table or chiropractic table for 2 weeks following treatment. Bruising and minor swelling is likely following treatment and usually resolves within a week when using a bruise cream. Please allow 2-4 weeks prior to any special event to provide adequate time for bruising to resolve.
How long does swelling last after getting lip fillers?
Swelling after lip fillers typically subsides within 48 to 72 hours but may last up to a week in some cases. Icing the area and keeping your head elevated can help reduce swelling.
How long after lip fillers can you kiss?
It is advisable to wait at least 24 hours after getting lip fillers before engaging in any activities that may put pressure on your lips, such as kissing, to allow the filler to settle properly and avoid increasing swelling.
Can I eat after getting lip fillers?
Yes, you can eat after getting lip fillers, but it's recommended to avoid hot or spicy foods for the first 24 hours, as they may increase swelling or discomfort. If you received a dental block prior to your treatment, it is recommended to use caution while eating for the first 2-4 hours after treatment until the numbness wears off.
Can you smile after lip fillers?
Yes, you can smile after getting lip fillers, but you may experience some mild stiffness or discomfort for the first 24 to 48 hours.
Can you get fillers while pregnant?
Getting fillers while pregnant is not recommended, as the safety of dermal fillers during pregnancy has not been well-established.
Can you get lip fillers while breastfeeding?
It is not recommended to get fillers while breastfeeding, as there is limited research on the safety of dermal fillers during this time. Please consult with your doctor before undergoing any cosmetic treatments while breastfeeding.
Can you drink alcohol after fillers?
It's best to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours after getting fillers, as alcohol can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
Can you smoke after lip fillers?
Avoid smoking for at least 24 hours after getting lip fillers, as smoking can slow down the healing process and increase the risk of complications.

How Fillers Work
Fillers are gel-like substances that are injected into the skin to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. As we age, our skin loses collagen and elasticity, which can lead to a loss of volume and the formation of lines and wrinkles. Fillers counteract these signs of aging by adding volume to the targeted areas, such as the lips, cheeks, jawline, around the mouth and under eyes.
At Arsenault Aesthetics, our experienced Master Injectors carefully select the most suitable type of filler for your specific needs, ensuring natural-looking and long-lasting results. Fillers not only address age-related concerns but can also be used to enhance facial features, such as creating fuller lips or more defined cheekbones and jawlines. This highly technical full face contouring is commonly referred to as facial balancing.

What to Expect
Your filler appointment at Arsenault Aesthetics will begin with a thorough consultation, during which our experienced professionals will discuss your aesthetic goals and assess your facial features.
Once the treatment plan is customized to your needs, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the targeted area to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. Our skilled Master Injectors will then carefully administer the filler using a fine needle or cannula, paying close attention to detail and symmetry for optimal results.
After the treatment, you may experience some mild swelling, redness, or bruising, which is normal, to be expected, and will resolve over the next 5-7 days. You’ll be provided with post-treatment care instructions to ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results. Most patients can resume their normal activities shortly after the procedure, but it is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 to 48 hours.

Cheek fillers are used to restore volume and lift to the mid-face area, providing a more youthful and defined contour. This treatment helps combat the natural loss of volume in the cheeks, creating a more sculpted, lifted and rejuvenated appearance. Cheek filler is often used in facial balancing treatments.
Under eye fillers are used to minimize the appearance of hollows and/or fat pads beneath the eyes. By adding volume and support to the tear trough area, this treatment can help you achieve a refreshed and more youthful appearance. Cheek filler is often recommended in combination with under eye filler if support is needed in the midface to optimize results.

Fillers can be used to smooth out the appearance of nasolabial folds, which are the lines that run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth. By adding volume to this area, fillers can help create a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. Nasolabial folds can also be improved by addressing midface volume loss with cheek filler.
Fillers can also be used to address marionette lines, which are the lines that run from the corners of the mouth down towards the chin. By adding volume and support to this area, fillers can help lift the corners of the mouth and create a resting smile and more youthful appearance.
Chin fillers can be used to improve the shape and projection of the chin, creating a more balanced and harmonious facial profile. This treatment can help address concerns such as a weak or receding chin, or simply enhance your natural features. Chin filler is often used in facial balancing treatments.
Fillers can be used to create a more defined and sculpted jawline by adding volume and support to the lower face. This treatment is ideal for those looking to achieve a more defined or snatched jawline and youthful appearance. Jawline filler is often used in facial balancing treatments.
Fillers can be used to restore volume and fullness to the hands, minimizing the appearance of veins, tendons, and wrinkles. This treatment helps to achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance for your hands, which often show signs of aging.
Fillers can be used to restore volume and fullness to the temples, which can become hollow and sunken due to aging. By adding volume to this area, temple filler can help create a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
Fillers can be used to restore volume and fullness to the earlobes, which can become thin and elongated due to aging or wearing heavy earrings. This treatment can help rejuvenate the appearance of the earlobes and provide additional support for earrings.
This treatment uses fillers to enhance facial symmetry and proportion. By carefully placing fillers in areas like the cheeks, chin, and jawline, it creates a balanced and natural look. Perfect for those wanting to refine their facial shape, this tailored approach boosts overall harmony, offering a subtle yet transformative effect.
