What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is unique in that it is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), which is similar to the calcium found in your teeth and bones. This compound is suspended in an injectable gel carrier. Not only does Radiesse plump and add volume to areas of the body, but it also can be specially prepared to stimulate your body to produce collagen and elastin without extra volume!
Collagen is the building block of the skin’s structure, providing volume, stability, and a smooth surface. Collagen production slows as we age, and we typically lose about 1-2% of collagen per year as early as our 30’s. This results in weakening and thinning of the skin and volume loss in various areas. Unlike other fillers, which vanish completely when absorbed by the body in 1-2 years, this treatment leaves behind microspheres of hydroxylapatite. These act as a newly formed scaffold, supporting the skin structures that have weakened over time. This increased strength causes your body to produce more collagen, which then builds on top of the hydroxylapatite and persists even after the filler has resolved.

Radiesse FAQ
How does Radiesse work?
Radiesse is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of volume loss. Radiesse results in aesthetic improvement and provides an increase in skin thickness in the treated area. Visible results appear at the first treatment session and continue to improve over the following months.
What is Radiesse used for?
Radiesse is a versatile dermal filler used to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles, folds, and hollow areas, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It can also be utilized for non-surgical cheek augmentation, jawline contouring and non-surgical butt lift, as well as to rejuvenate aging hands by adding volume and minimizing the appearance of veins and tendons. Most commonly, Radiesse is used for neck, chest, knee and elbow skin rejuvenation.
When will I see results from Radiesse?
Results are immediate and continue to improve as it stimulates elastin and collagen formation for months following the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Generally, significant augmentation or restoration may be achieved in a first treatment. A touch-up may be required to achieve optimal results, and periodic future touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the augmentation or restoration.
How long does Radiesse take to settle?
Radiesse typically takes around two weeks to fully settle and integrate into the treated areas. During this time, you may notice some mild swelling or bruising, which should resolve on its own. Full treatment results are seen after 3 months.
Is Radiesse safe?
Yes, Radiesse is a safe and FDA-approved dermal filler made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, a biocompatible and biodegradable material. It has been widely used for many years with a proven track record of safety and effectiveness. It is important to go to a qualified, highly skilled and trained aesthetic provider when getting Radiesse.
Does Radiesse hurt?

Does Radiesse migrate?
Radiesse has a low likelihood of migration when injected by experienced professionals. Our skilled injectors at Arsenault Aesthetics take great care to place the filler accurately and avoid overcorrection to ensure natural-looking results.
How long does Radiesse last?
The results of a Radiesse treatment are immediate. Radiesse typically lasts 12 to 18 months or more.
Is Radiesse a filler?
Yes, Radiesse is a long-lasting dermal filler designed to smooth wrinkles, restore volume, and stimulate collagen production for a more youthful appearance.
Can Radiesse be used in the hips?
Yes, Radiesse can be used to correct “hip dips” or areas of volume loss on the buttocks area, resulting in a rounder, more lifted appearance.
What is Radiesse BBL?
Radiesse BBL refers to a Brazilian Butt Lift using Radiesse filler injections. For more information you can check out our Non-Surgical Brazilian Butt Lift page.
Can you reverse Radiesse?
Radiesse cannot be dissolved or reversed like some hyaluronic acid-based fillers. However, it is a biodegradable filler that will naturally break down and be absorbed by the body over time, typically lasting 12 to 18 months.
Does Radiesse stimulate collagen production?
Yes, Radiesse stimulates the body's natural collagen production, enhancing skin's overall structure and elasticity for long-lasting, rejuvenating results.
Is Radiesse good for men and women?
Yes! This treatment benefits both men and women.
How Radiesse Works
Radiesse works by combining immediate volumizing effects with long-term collagen stimulation. The unique calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in Radiesse act as a scaffold, providing instant lift and volume to the treated areas.
Over time, these microspheres stimulate the body’s natural collagen production, gradually improving skin quality and structure. As the microspheres are absorbed by the body, the newly formed collagen takes their place, maintaining a youthful, refreshed appearance that can last up to 18 months.

What to Expect
Your Radiesse treatment at Arsenault Aesthetics begins with a thorough consultation to discuss your aesthetic concerns and goals. Our skilled provider will assess your desired treatment area and determine the most suitable treatment plan for your needs.
Before the procedure, a numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area to ensure your comfort during the injections. Using a fine needle or cannula, our provider will carefully inject Radiesse into the targeted areas, sculpting and contouring as needed to achieve the desired result.
After the treatment, you may experience some mild swelling, tenderness, or bruising. This is temporary and will resolve within 1-2 weeks.

Treatment Types
Radiesse is effective in treating nasolabial folds, the deep lines that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth. By injecting Radiesse into these areas, the skin is instantly volumized, smoothing out the folds and providing a more youthful appearance.
Radiesse can be injected along the jawline to enhance definition and create a more sculpted appearance. Jawline contouring can help address sagging skin and loss of volume in the lower face, providing a subtle lift and improved facial structure.
Radiesse can be used to revitalize aging hands by adding volume and reducing the appearance of veins and tendons. By injecting Radiesse into the back of the hands, a more youthful and smooth appearance is achieved.
