What do chemical peels do?
Chemical peels remove the skin from the surface layer, either exposing fresh skin beneath or prompting the body to regenerate new surface skin.

- Age spots
- Acne and acne scars
- Freckles
- Scaly patches
To have a peel, you cannot have any active skin conditions or infections.
What should I avoid prior to a chemical peel?
Prior to your chemical peel, you want your skin to be in normal condition. These means don’t use any products that increase your skin’s sensitivity prior to your peel. These would be products such as Retin-A, products with retinol, benzoyl peroxide, or alpha-hydroxy acids. This also includes natural supplements or medications that increase skin sensitivity, along with treatments such as Intense Pulsed Light. Also, don’t have any hair removal treatments, be it waxing or depilatory creams or lasers, for at least one week before your peel.

How Chemical Peels work
Chemical peels work by using a specialized solution to gently exfoliate and remove the outermost layers of the skin, revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath. This process stimulates the production of new skin cells and collagen, helping to address a variety of skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and uneven pigmentation.
At Arsenault Aesthetics, our skilled professionals will assess your skin and recommend the most suitable type of chemical peel, ranging from mild to deep, to achieve the best results for your unique needs.
What to Expect
During your appointment at Arsenault Aesthetics, your provider will begin by discussing your skin concerns and desired outcomes. They will then thoroughly cleanse your skin and apply a customized chemical peel solution, tailored to your specific needs.
You may experience a mild tingling or burning sensation during the treatment, which usually subsides quickly. The duration of the peel will depend on the type and depth of the peel selected.
After the peel, your provider will apply a soothing cream to hydrate and protect your skin. You may notice some redness and peeling in the days following the treatment, which is a normal part of the healing process. Your practitioner will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results.
Chemical Peel Treatment Types
Chemical peels can address various pigmentation issues, including age spots, sunspots, and melasma, by encouraging the shedding of pigmented skin cells and promoting an even skin tone. At Arsenault Aesthetics, we also offer laser treatments, such as BBL or MOXI that more effectively address pigment concerns.
