CoolSculpting FAQ
How does CoolSculpting work?
In a CoolSculpting® session, the device is attached to the area to be targeted where it applies light suction to the skin and underlying tissue. Once activated, it delivers controlled cooling into the tissue below. But this is the unique aspect of CoolSculpting®: the temperature involved only freezes fat cells, not surrounding non-fat cells. Once the fat cells are crystallized they then gradually die. Your body, as with any non-essential by-product, then eliminates the dead fat cells naturally. With those fat cells gone, the remaining fat cells condense into a thinner fat layer.
What happens to the frozen fat cells?
Cryolipolysis is the secret behind CoolSculpting®. Fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than muscle tissue, blood vessels, skin, and other tissue. Once the fat cells are frozen, they die and the body gets about the business of removing them from the system, as it does with any waste products. The lymphatic system is responsible for this cleanup job, and it breaks down and flushes these dead cells from the body over the course of the next few weeks and months.
How long does CoolSculpting take?
A CoolSculpting® session takes from one to three hours. The procedure is pain-free and patients can read a book or even browse the web on their laptops while receiving the treatment. There is no recovery time; patients can return to normal activities immediately following their session.
How long does CoolSculpting last?
The effects of CoolSculpting can last indefinitely, as the targeted fat cells are permanently removed. However, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential to prevent new fat cells from forming.
Does CoolSculpting hurt?
You’ll feel some intense cooling, but you won’t feel pain during your session. At the onset, you’ll feel a pulling sensation as the suction draws your tissues up to the cooling panels. Once the cooling is delivered, at first you’ll feel an intense cooling sensation for a few minutes. Most people don’t describe this as painful, just very cold. Then the area becomes numb, and the sensation passes. From there, you’ll feel little. You can read a book, answer emails, watch videos on your laptop, or take a nap during the procedure.
Do you lose weight with CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment but focuses on reducing stubborn fat deposits to help achieve a more contoured shape. While it may result in minor weight loss, it is best combined with a healthy lifestyle for overall weight management.
Is CoolSculpting permanent?
CoolSculpting offers permanent results, as the treated fat cells are eliminated from your body, resulting in long-lasting fat reduction.
Does CoolSculpting tighten skin?
While CoolSculpting primarily targets fat cells, it can also provide mild skin tightening effects as the treated area heals and collagen production is stimulated.
How many CoolSculpting treatments are needed?
The number of CoolSculpting treatments needed varies depending on individual goals and the treatment area. Typically, clients require 1-3 sessions for optimal results.
How cold is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting uses temperatures around -11°C (12°F) to freeze and eliminate fat cells effectively, without damaging the surrounding skin and tissues.
Does CoolSculpting get rid of cellulite?
CoolSculpting is primarily designed for fat reduction and is not a cellulite treatment. However, some clients may notice an improvement in the appearance of cellulite following treatment.
Does CoolSculpting work on arms?
Yes, CoolSculpting is effective in treating stubborn fat on various body parts, including the upper arms, helping clients achieve a more toned appearance.
Is CoolSculpting FDA approved?
CoolSculpting is FDA-approved for the treatment of visible fat bulges in nine areas, including the abdomen, flanks, and upper arms.
Who is a good candidate for Coolsculpting?
CoolSculpting® is not a weight-loss procedure; it is a body-contouring procedure. Patients generally should be at or near their ideal body weight before having CoolSculpting® done. This will then remove the stubborn pockets of fat and further slim your contour.
How much fat do you lose with CoolSculpting?
When you have your first CoolSculpting® treatment on an area, the process of freezing the fat cells to the point of cell death (clinically known as cryolipolysis) causes from 20-24 percent of the fat cells in the area to die and be flushed from the body. Subsequent treatments on the same area deliver lower amounts of fat reduction.
Does fat come back after CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting permanently removes treated fat cells; however, weight gain can cause remaining fat cells to enlarge. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial for long-lasting results.
How long does it take to see Coolsculpting results?
You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your session. Your most dramatic results will show after about two months. Your body will continue to flush out fat cells for up to 4-6 months after treatment. This fat is gone for good.
What can I expect after CoolSculpting?
After a CoolSculpting treatment, you may experience mild redness, swelling, or numbness in the treated area. These side effects are temporary and typically resolve within a few days to weeks.
Can you workout after CoolSculpting?
It is generally safe to resume your regular exercise routine within 24 hours following a CoolSculpting treatment, but always consult with your provider for personalized advice.
Is CoolSculpting good for men and women?
Yes! This treatment benefits both men and women.
How CoolSculpting Works
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive fat reduction treatment that uses cryolipolysis technology to freeze and eliminate unwanted fat cells. The procedure targets stubborn fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise, without damaging the surrounding skin and tissues.
During the treatment, controlled cooling is applied to the targeted area, causing the fat cells to crystallize and die. Over time, your body naturally processes and removes these dead cells, resulting in a more sculpted and toned appearance.
With the expertise of our skilled providers at Arsenault Aesthetics in Lakewood Ranch, you can achieve natural-looking results and regain your confidence.
What to Expect
Upon arrival at Arsenault Aesthetics, our professional staff will discuss your aesthetic concerns and goals for CoolSculpting treatment. We will then evaluate the target areas to determine the most effective treatment plan for optimal results.
During the CoolSculpting procedure, a gel pad and applicator will be applied to the treatment area. You may feel a mild pulling sensation as the applicator suctions the fat tissue, followed by a cooling sensation as the cryolipolysis process begins. The treatment is generally well-tolerated, and clients can read, watch videos, or even take a nap during the session.
After the treatment, the applicator is removed, and the treated area is gently massaged to help break up the frozen fat cells and enhance results. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or numbness in the treated area, but these side effects are temporary and typically resolve within a few days to weeks.
