What is a PDO Thread Lift?
A thread lift, a non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment, allows you to achieve an instant, natural looking lift to your face. By gently lifting the skin, this minimally invasive procedure lifts and tightens the face.
Designed to address signs of facial aging seen in skin laxity or loss of facial volume, the procedure helps redefine the facial contours for a more youthful appearance. Thin dissolvable threads or sutures are placed under the skin after using local anesthesia. By gently pulling on the threads, the skin is subtly lifted using micro-suspension technology.
These threads stimulate the body to produce more collagen, improving the skin’s strength, tone and firmness. Increased collagen production gradually restores facial volume and repositions skin in the mid-face area. The results are non-surgical, subtle and effective.

Thread Lift FAQ
Who is a good candidate for a thread lift?
A thread lift procedure is ideal for someone with early signs of aging seen in mild to moderate laugh lines or facial jowling. This procedure does not replace a facelift, which lifts underlying facial muscles and tissue. For someone with severe laxity of facial skin and neck, a facelift would be a better option. During your consultation our experienced injectors will determine if a thread lift procedure will achieve your aesthetic goals.

Are thread lifts safe?
Yes, thread lifts are considered safe when performed by experienced and qualified medical professionals, like the aesthetic providers at Arsenault Aesthetics. PDO threads are made of biodegradable and biocompatible materials, similar to dissolvable sutures used in surgery, which have been used in medical procedures for many years. As with any procedure, there are potential risks, but these are generally minimal when performed by skilled practitioners.
How is a thread lift procedure performed?
Before the procedure begins our injector will assess and mark your face to identify where the sutures will be placed. The area is numbed with a local anesthetic. Using a thin cannula (small blunt straw-like needle), dissolvable sutures are inserted into the skin and gently pulled in the direction the lift should occur. Each suture is interspersed with tiny “cones” that will subtly gather and lift the facial skin. The sutures are small, dissolvable and cannot be felt once the skin has healed around them. The number of sutures used varies, depending on the skin laxity.
How long does a PDO thread lift take to perform?
A PDO thread lift typically takes 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the extent of treatment.
Are thread lifts good for men and women?
Yes! This treatment benefits both men and women.
How can I reduce swelling after a PDO thread lift?
To reduce swelling after a PDO thread lift, apply a cold compress to the treated area for 10-15 minutes every hour for the first 24 hours. Keep your head elevated, avoid strenuous activities, and limit sun exposure. Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication can also be helpful in minimizing swelling.
How should I sleep after a thread lift?
After a thread lift, it's best to sleep on your back with your head elevated on pillows for the first few nights. This position helps reduce swelling and prevents any pressure on the treated areas, ensuring optimal results.
Can I drink alcohol after a thread lift?
It is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption for 24 - 48 hours after a thread lift. Alcohol can increase the risk of bruising and swelling, and may also interfere with the healing process.
Can I exercise after a thread lift?
You should avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for at least one week after a thread lift to minimize swelling and ensure proper healing. Light activities, such as walking, can be resumed within a day or two.
Does a PDO thread lift hurt?
Because a local and topical anesthetic is used, only mild discomfort is experienced during the treatment.
What should I expect after the treatment?
After the treatment, there may be some mild discomfort, swelling, or bruising. Small ice packs can be used to help with swelling. Acetaminophen, used as directed, can help with any mild pain. We recommend sleeping with your head elevated on pillows for the first three to five days. Avoid aggressive massaging or washing of the face and excessive chewing for the first 5 days. High impact activities should also be avoided for the first two weeks after the procedure.
Can a thread lift be done on the neck?
Yes, a thread lift can be effectively performed on the neck to address sagging skin and improve the overall contour. The success of this technique is dependent on the individual’s anatomy. Our providers can determine if you would benefit from this treatment at your complimentary consultation.
Can a thread lift be reversed?
While a thread lift cannot be reversed in the traditional sense, the results are temporary and will naturally diminish over time. PDO threads dissolve within 3-6 months, and the lifting effect lasts for approximately 12-18 months.
How long does a PDO thread lift last?
Initial results from a Threadlift are immediate. The presence of the sutures stimulates the healing response and the production of collagen. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen, leading to a loss of strength and volume in our skin. By stimulating collagen production, a thread lift will gradually improve the skin’s tone and firmness, restoring lost facial volume in the first three to four months. Overall results of a thread lift last 12-18 months.
How PDO Thread Lifts Work
PDO thread lifts are a non-surgical lifting of the face, that utilize biodegradable, absorbable thread, similar to dissolvable sutures, that are carefully inserted under the skin. These threads create a supportive mesh-like structure, gently lifting and tightening sagging skin.
Over time, the threads stimulate collagen production, which adds volume and elasticity to the skin, enhancing the natural contours of the face. The procedure is minimally invasive, with minimal downtime and discomfort.
At Arsenault Aesthetics, our skilled providers customize each PDO thread lift treatment to address your unique concerns and achieve your desired results.
What to Expect
During your PDO thread lift consultation at Arsenault Aesthetics, our experienced provider will discuss your aesthetic goals and evaluate your skin to determine the most effective treatment plan.
Before the procedure, a local anesthetic will be applied to ensure your comfort. The provider will then carefully insert the PDO threads under your skin using a thin cannula, lifting and tightening the targeted areas. The treatment typically takes 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the extent of the treatment.
After the procedure, you may experience some mild discomfort and swelling, which should subside within a few days. You can return to your daily activities with minimal restrictions, but it is advised to avoid strenuous exercise for at least a week. The results of a PDO thread lift are visible immediately and continue to improve over time as collagen production increases.
