Day of Treatment:
If possible, please come to your appointment with a clean face, without makeup.
After Treatment:
Redness, bruising and swelling is to be expected following treatment with fillers. Bruising and swelling is worse for the first 24-48 hours. Bruising can last up to 2 weeks: however that can be shortened by the use of bruise cream following treatment. We recommend using DerMend bruise cream 8-10 times daily until bruises resolve. This is available to purchase at your appointment. It is also available over the counter.
We recommend icing on and off for the remainder of the day following treatment, to help reduce bruising and swelling. Icing can continue on and off the following day for any swelling or discomfort. A comfortable ice pack will be provided at your appointment.
You may take Tylenol (if not contraindicated) every 4-6 hours after treatment to help with any discomfort.
Avoid exercising for the remainder of the day following treatment.
Avoid excessive touching or massaging the treated areas for about 6 hours after the injections.
If receiving cheek fillers, please avoid a massage table, chiropractic table for two weeks following treatment, as we do not want the weight of your head pressing down on your cheeks.
If receiving lip filler, please avoid straws, cigarettes, exaggerated lip movement for 2-3 days.
Continue washing your face, applying makeup, and sleeping as normal.
Palpable lumps may be felt for up to 4 weeks and resolve. Please call your provider if any lumps are PAINFUL or TENDER.
Call the office immediately for any discoloration of the skin (not bruising), increasing pain, pustules, which may be signs of a complication from treatment.
**Special events – Please be sure to schedule filler at least 2 weeks prior to any special events to give enough time for bruising to resolve. If this is your first time getting filler, we recommend at least 1 month prior to a special event, to give enough time for any necessary touch ups, if needed.
