What is Botox?
Botox and Dysport are the most common aesthetic injection treatments performed on women and men. A simple treatment, they help maintain your natural youthfulness by smoothing lines and wrinkles of the face.
Botox and Dysport are both liquids that are injected into targeted muscles to temporarily reduce or prevent muscle movement. Wrinkles, lines or folds that are caused by these muscle movements are therefore minimized or go away completely.

Botox FAQ
What is Botox?
Botox is a brand name neuromodulator, for a cosmetic injectable neuromodulator. Decades ago, researchers found that when injected in small doses, the botulinum toxin temporarily blocks nerve signals in the muscles. Without the nerve signal, the muscle will not move. Over time, approximately 3 months, the botox wears off and the muscle will return to full movement.
Other brand names include Dysport, Xeomin Jeauvaeu and Daxxify. Injecting the reconstituted/mixed product in small amounts will relax your muscles by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the muscle. Without the nerve signal, the muscle cannot contract or move.
What does Botox do?
Botox relaxes targeted muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines from repetitive facial expressions. By temporarily reducing muscle activity, Botox smooths the skin, helping reduce the appearance of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. It can also be used for other concerns, like managing excessive sweating or TMJ-related discomfort.
How does Botox work?
Botox contains a purified protein derived from the botulinum toxin. When injected in small, controlled doses, it blocks nerve signals to specific muscles. This prevents the muscles from contracting, reducing the formation of wrinkles and softening existing lines for a smoother, refreshed look.
What is Botox made of?
Botox is composed of a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, a protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is formulated to be safe and effective when used in medical and cosmetic treatments.
Does Botox hurt?

Is Botox safe?

Is there any downtime with Botox?

Will my face be "frozen" or expressionless?

This is a rare side effect and underscores the importance of choosing a highly skilled and experienced injector. Proper technique and precise placement minimize this risk. treatment. How Botox works
Instead of physically adding volume or contouring the way that injectable fillers do, Botox addresses muscles that are causing signs of aging, such as frown lines, forehead lines, crows feet, heavy brows, dimpled chins and neck bands.
When injected by highly trained and experienced Master Injectors (such as those at our med spa in Lakewood Ranch ), Botox can look very natural leaving you with movement, but helping you look rested, refreshed and younger. It is also great for prevention of lines, gummy smiles, and TMJ pain.
Botox and similar injectables (Dysport, Xeomin Jeauvaeu and Daxxify) are usedto address some of the most prevalent age-related issues for both men and women.

Treatment Types
Botox can be used for a variety of aesthetic and non-aesthetic concerns
By far the most common use of Botox is to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face or other parts of the body. Small amounts are injected into the target area, helping relax the muscles and smooth out the skin, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
A Lip Flip involves injecting Botox into the muscles around the mouth to help lift and enhance the upper lip. Unlike dermal fillers, which add volume to the lips directly, a Lip Flip is more subtle. Or if you’re looking for something less subtle, lift flips can be combined with dermal fillers for dramatic results. Typically Lift Flips take only a few minutes to perform, and the effects last for several months.
Botox injections can help to reduce the amount of gum that shows when you smile, providing a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing smile. The gummy smile treatment involves injecting small amounts of Botox into the muscles surrounding the mouth. This relaxes these muscles, causing the upper lip to cover more of the gums when you smile. If you’re self-conscious about your gums when you smile, a Botox gummy smile treatment may be a good option to consider.
“Traptox” is a unique procedure that employs Botox injections into the trapezius muscles. This treatment is sought after for its dual benefits. For those seeking relief from muscle tension or frequent headaches, Traptox provides a promising solution by relaxing the large, superficial muscles in the back. On the aesthetic side, Traptox can enhance your physical appearance by subtly slimming the shoulders and offering an elongated, graceful look to the neck. With results that last for three to five months, this procedure has emerged as a popular choice among those desiring both comfort and cosmetic elegance.

If you suffer from jaw pain or discomfort caused by TMJ disorder, Botox can be a game-changer. This treatment involves injecting Botox into the masseter muscles, which are responsible for jaw movement and chewing. It works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles, which can reduce tension and pain in the jaw. This can make it easier to eat, speak, and perform other daily activities without discomfort.

A dimpled or “pebbled” chin can be a source of self-consciousness for some people. Fortunately, Botox can help smooth out the appearance of the chin by relaxing overactive muscles in the area. It’s a simple and effective treatment that can give you a more even-looking chin.
A brow lift is used to lift and shape the eyebrows. Small amounts of Botox are injected into the muscles around the brows causing the muscles that pull them down to relax, resulting in a lifted and more youthful appearance.
A nasal tip lift involves injecting small amounts of Botox into the muscles that pull down on the tip of the nasal. This helps to lift the tip of the nose, resulting in a more defined and refined look.
Nasal slimming is used to slim the appearance of the nose by injecting small amounts of Botox into the muscles that widen the shape of the nose. This can help create a more slim, balanced refined look.

A nostril flare treatment involves injecting small amounts of Botox into the muscles that pull on the nostrils, resulting in a more relaxed and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Platysmal bands are the vertical bands that can appear on the neck as a person ages. Botox can be used to soften the appearance of these bands by injecting small amounts into the muscles that create them.
We use Botox treatments targeting the Depressor Anguli Oris (DAO) muscle to subtly lift the corners of the mouth. The procedure involves precise Botox injections into the DAO muscle, aiming to relax its pull and reduce the appearance of downturned mouth corners. This approach is tailored to individual facial anatomy and the specific characteristics of the DAO muscle’s activity, ensuring a natural-looking enhancement.

If you suffer from hyperhidrosis, Botox injections can help to reduce the amount of sweat you produce. Botox injected directly into the sweat glands temporarily blocks the nerve signals that cause the glands to produce sweat. This can significantly reduce excessive sweating in the underarm area and increase your confidence.
